Topic. Coal

1/9/10  Room10 went to Waimumu coal mine at 9:30. We went in the same bus as room  15 . We went down to where they did the digging. We hoped out of the bus and found different shapes of coal because coal is made from trees and that is how it burns. A expert came on our trip to answer our questions. This is how big part of the bowl is. We found lots of sap By Matthew and Jamie

As we went down we saw this massive pump down in the pit. Zoe the tour person told us about the pump as we went walking to see what it was.The pump takes the acid  water  through the grass and out  in the lakes , rivers, ponds etc.  This cleans the water so no toxins  harm little fishies.

This is one of the few huge diggers that are able yo pick up tones of coal and we got a photo taken of us by it.We got to take some coal home (some people did)and only a few did get to.it was so cool!!  By william and Bailey
